A Purpose-Built Shelter Designed for Care, Safety, and Adoption
This new Floyd County Animal Shelter was thoughtfully designed to meet the real, day-to-day needs of animals, staff, and the community — not just to hold animals, but to care for them properly and move them safely into loving homes.
🐾 Expanded Capacity to Save More Lives
The new facility will include 46 individual kennels, dramatically increasing our ability to safely house animals while reducing overcrowding and stress. This added capacity allows us to respond more effectively to emergencies, strays, and owner surrenders while maintaining humane standards of care.
🩺 Dedicated Quarantine Spaces
Two separate quarantine rooms provide a critical layer of protection for both healthy and vulnerable animals. These rooms allow us to isolate sick or exposed animals when needed, helping prevent disease spread and improving outcomes for everyone in our care.
🏥 Procedure Room for Medical Care & the Future
A designated procedure room will allow for on-site medical treatments and minor procedures, improving comfort and recovery for animals who need care. This space is also designed with the future in mind — supporting plans for spay and neuter procedures and expanded medical services as resources allow.

🐶🐱 Spaces Designed for Animal Well-Being
The new shelter includes areas tailored to different needs and stages of life:
- A separate puppy room for young, developing dogs
- A cat play room that allows cats to move, explore, and reduce stress
- A play room for potential adopters, creating a calm, welcoming space where families can meet animals outside of a kennel environment
These spaces are designed to improve behavior, reduce anxiety, and help animals show their true personalities — leading to better matches and more successful adoptions.
❤️ Built for the Community
This facility represents a major step forward for animal welfare in Floyd County. By prioritizing safety, health, and humane care, the new shelter will better serve animals in need while providing the community with a clean, organized, and compassionate place to turn for help.
Help Build the Future of Animal Care in Floyd County
This new shelter is only possible because of community support. Every improvement — from safe kennels to medical spaces and adoption rooms — is built with the goal of giving animals a better chance at health, comfort, and a forever home.
